San Diego Airport Terminal 1

In Terminal 1, construction of a newly built-up slab required a lightweight flowable material to fill the irregular void areas. Lightweight Cellular Concrete was requested due to its self-leveling and highly flowable properties to reach and mold itself into all pockets. Due to this, there was no need for specialized equipment to place or cut the surrounding area to fit the material. A big challenge for this job was having limited access to the site. We have the flexibility to easily place our material via hose lines from our batch plant. For this job, we setup 800 LF of 3” hose to place LCC out to the site. In the end, several locations were poured up to a 5’ depth in one day’s work and construction was able to proceed the next day on schedule.
