Fruit Heights, UT
The Weber Basin aqueduct continues from one of our previous projects into Fruit Heights. A new development is currently underway in Fruit Heights called the Rock Loft Ridge Estates. The developer is currently working on the infrastructure for these new neighborhoods. Directly underneath sections of the road is the Weber Basin aqueduct. This aqueduct is aged and to maintain its integrity, the engineers, geotechnical engineers, and general contractor have determined that a lightweight flowable fill was the best option.
Pouring a flowable lightweight fill allowed them to backfill around any structure and fill voids. By using LCC the contractor had eliminated the need for compaction. This was beneficial in some of the tighter areas around new structures in the fill area. The LCC was placed in lifts so we could pour to the delineated elevations set by the general contractor. Some of the other benefits of LCC are the protection from freeze/thaw, seismic benefits, it is excavatable, and we could batch this on site to maintain production.
