Glendale, AZ
The Mattel Adventure Park in Glendale, Arizona, is an exciting project and part of the new Vai resort that required a roofing system capable of withstanding the extreme temperatures of the desert climate. To meet this challenge, Lightweight Insulating Concrete (LWIC) was chosen as the advanced roofing solution for the Mattel Hotel. LWIC combines Lightweight Concrete and Polystyrene Insulation Board to create a highly effective and durable roof system.
By pouring a specialized lightweight concrete mixture onto the roof deck, LWIC forms a resilient and insulating layer. This layer enhances energy efficiency and thermal performance, reducing energy consumption and optimizing life cycle costs. LWIC’s low thermal conductivity minimizes heat transfer, and its exceptional wind uplift resistance ensures superior protection and structural integrity in extreme weather conditions. Additionally, LWIC is non-combustible, offering enhanced fire resistance for added safety.
For the Mattel Hotel, a 90,917 SF roof deck, LWIC material was successfully installed in just 10 days. Other buildings within the resort are also utilizing LWIC as their preferred roof system. We will provide further updates as those projects are completed. Overall, LWIC proves to be a resilient, sustainable, and high-performance roofing solution for the first ever Mattel Adventure Park.
