Project Spotlight: Intuit Dome Arena – Innovative Solutions with Cellular Concrete
Cell-Crete is proud to be a part of the groundbreaking Intuit Dome Arena project, where we are providing multiple solutions using our lightweight cellular concrete technology (LCC). This iconic venue poses unique challenges, particularly in terms of strict maximum dead load restrictions for the subterranean structure beneath the main entrance level.
One of the key issues we tackled was the need to create slopes on the flat deck leading to the drains, using a lightweight material. To address this, we employed cellular concrete, a versatile and lightweight solution. By meticulously sloping the deck to a minimum of 0.01% slope, with a maximum depth of 5 inches and a minimum of ½ inch, we ensured efficient drainage while maintaining structural integrity.
Furthermore, the original design called for a gravel backfill to elevate the deck to its final finish elevation. Here, we leveraged the benefits of cellular concrete once again. By utilizing this innovative lightweight material, we were able to reduce the weight of the gravel by a factor of 3, significantly optimizing the load on the structure without compromising performance.
Our ongoing installation of cellular concrete continues to shape this remarkable project, with the anticipation of witnessing the venue come to life and being enjoyed by patrons from around the world.
At Cell-Crete, we are committed to providing innovative solutions that meet the unique demands of landmark projects like the Intuit Dome Arena.
