Flour Mill Upgrade

Three silos had become inoperable due to groundwater intrusion at the bottom of the silos, due to an adjacent canal that would open and close. The ground water intrusion affected the augers located at the bottom of the silos, rendering them unable to store and process grain. Addressing this challenge was critical for the mill’s productivity and overall operation.

To tackle the issue, the bottom of each silo was filled with permeable cellular concrete, a material designed to allow for water drainage while providing a stable foundation. Once the cellular concrete is in place, a new concrete slab will be poured on top to serve as a robust base for the new auger systems. Ensuring that the silos can be filled with grain and function as intended.
