Update on McKinley Grade Separation Phase 1

The Project

We are currently in the process of placing precast panel walls and LCC backfill as part of our phased construction approach. This method allows for uninterrupted traffic flow while construction is underway.

LCC, or lightweight cellular concrete, is being used to elevate the existing grade. It serves as backfill material between the precast panel walls and temporary walls, ensuring that both directions of McKinley traffic remain open. This ensures easy access to local businesses throughout the construction process.

What’s even more exciting is that we are using a special LCC mix with SCM’s (Supplementary Cementitious Materials) on this project. This mix includes up to a 30% substitution of cement with SCM’s 100% recycled materials that would have otherwise ended up in landfills.

By reducing our carbon footprint and aiding in reduced CO2 emissions, we are taking a significant step toward a more sustainable future. Stay tuned for more updates on the McKinley Street Grade Separation Project.
